Did Jordan's Queen Rania call ISIS as "crazy people?" Hell, yeah! On Thursday evening, the 44-year-old Queen Consort of Jordan branded the fearless Islamic State terrorist group as a "bunch of crazy people," who were tainting the name of Islam.
Speaking with media mogul and Huffington Post Editor-In-Chief Arianna Huffington during The WorldPost Future of Work Conference, Queen Rania said that there is nothing Islamic about the ISIS. Al-Arabiya added that the Jordanian royal also urged the international community not to focus on the religious claims of the insurgents.
"I would love to drop the first 'I' in ISIS because there's nothing Islamic about them," Queen Rania said, as quoted by The Huffington Post. "They have nothing to do with faith and everything to do with fanaticism. I think as an international community, we would do well to not focus on the religious character of that group because when we do, we give them undeserved legitimacy."
Queen Rania also suggested that the fight against the ruthless ISIS militants should be forged by Muslims and Arabs with the international community in a supporting role and not the other way around. The Jerusalem Post reported the US-led coalition status-quo is responsible for launching airstrikes on Islamic State targets.
"We can't let [ISIS] hijack our identity and brand us," she said. "We have to write our own narrative... This fight is a fight between the civilized world and a bunch of crazy people who want to take us back to medieval times. Once we see it that way, we realize that this is about all of us coming together to defend our way of life."
Queen Rania added that ISIS wanted to "divide the world along fault lines of religion and culture." She also warned about the group's much-publicized displays of violence. Yahoo! News reported the queen stated that the "scare tactics" ISIS were using backfired because it infuriated Jordanians. And instead of being scared, her people wanted to fight.
"It affirmed what we already knew, that this is a group with no conscience, no dignity, no nationality, no religion and no boundaries," Queen Rania said about ISIS' brutal killing schemes, Mashable quoted.
Queen Rania concluded her interview with a strong statement saying that the war against ISIS has to start at different levels, emphasizing that it could not be won on the battlefield alone.
"At the heart of this war is ideology, and you cannot kill an ideology with a bullet. You can only kill it with a better idea," the Jordanian queen said.
And as ISIS leaders take a revolutionary approach to recruit or to disseminate critical propaganda and missives through social media platforms, Queen Rania hopes to use the very same technology to outsmart and outshine the terrorists, Bustle reported.
