Is Johnny Depp dead? The actor reportedly got into an unfortunate incident in Australia while filming the upcoming installment of the hit "Pirates of the Caribbean" franchise, "Dead Men Tell No Tales." Fortunately, he only injured his hand. So nope! He is not dead.
According to The Wrap, Depp had a sustained a hand injury over the weekend while he was staying in Australia, where he and the rest of the cast and crew of "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales" are filming.
The 51-year-old actor is said to fly back to the United States this week for treatment, but this was not immediately verified.
Because of this, filming for the fifth installment of the hit franchise will be "minimally impacted," per different sources.
Despite the possible delay, Walt Disney Company already announced that the upcoming movie will hit theaters worldwide starting July 7, 2017.
NBC News has learned that Depp was not actually injured while filming the movie, and no one divulged what really happened to the actor.
However, he was photographed at Brisbane Airport waving to reporters with left hand while his right arm was covered in bandage.
Neither Depp nor his reps have responded to comment on the incident as of late.
Previous reports said production of the film began in February and it is expected to wrap up this summer. The movie is reportedly being filmed in different locations including Village Roadshow Studios in Queensland, Australia.
Apart from Depp, the fifth "Pirates of the Caribbean" will star Javier Bardem, Kaya Scodelario, Golshifteh Farahani, Kevin R. McNally, Geoffrey Rush, Brenton Thwaites, and Stephen Graham, among others.
