Lara Logan, a CBS News correspondent, was reportedly readmitted in the hospital Monday, weeks after she was hospitalized for internal bleeding. According to CNN Money, the cause of Logan's current hospitalization remains unclear.
Lara Logan's hospital readmission was confirmed a day after "60 Minutes" ran her story on the Islamic State's persecution of Iraqi Christians.
The reason why Logan was readmitted to the hospital is still uncertain but it may be a result of any lingering effects from the brutal sexual assault she endured during the 2011 uprising in Egypt.
As reported by the New York Post's Page Six, a CBS source revealed that Lara Logan has to make some tough and serious decisions regarding her health condition.
"She has to make some serious decisions if she should undergo surgery and her health going forward as she continues to pursue the work she loves," the source said.
Following the attack in Egypt, Logan's health has continued to suffer and she has been hospitalized numerous times. In February, reports revealed that Logan was rushed to the hospital following digestive disease diverticulitis and internal bleeding.
Meanwhile, on February 2011, Lara Logan had been beaten and sexually assaulted while covering the celebrations in Tahrir Square following Hosni Mubarak's resignation. The incident involved 200 to 300 men and lasted almost 25 minutes. In addition, the mob of men tore off Logan's clothes, groped and beat her body.
"For an extended period of time, they raped me with their hands," she said.
Believing she was dying, Lara Logan was dragged along the square to where the crowd was stopped by a fence, she was saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 soldiers. The day after the assault, she was flown back to the U.S. where she spent four days in the hospital.
"There was no doubt in my mind that I was in the process of dying," the 43-year-old reporter described the experience during an interview with Scott Pelley. "I thought not only am I going to die, but it's going to be just a torturous death that's going to go on forever."
The New York Times also learned that Lara Logan opened up about her sexual violence experience.
"You only have your word," Logan said in an interview. "The physical wounds heal. You don't carry around the evidence the way you would if you had lost your leg or your arm in Afghanistan."
The thoughts of the brutal assault remain to haunt Lara Logan, and the lingering effects of this experience continue to manifest. And with regards to her current hospitalization, CBS didn't give any further information. As spoken by the network's rep, they were sorry to hear that Logan was readmitted to the hospital and wished for her speedy recovery.
