Following a year-long absence, Celine Dion is finally coming back to Las Vegas later this year. In an exclusive interview with ABC News, the Grammy Award-winning singer revealed the reason why she left her Caesars Palace residence.
In the past year, Celine Dion was out of the public's eye due to her husband's poor health. In the exclusive tell-all, which premieres on Mar. 25 in "Good Morning America" and "Nightline," the 46-year-old singer shared some comprehensive details of what her family went through during her absence.
During the interview with ABC News' correspondent Deborah Roberts, the Canadian songstress made an emotional revelation on why she put her career on hold last year. According to Us Weekly, she confessed that the reason was her husband, Rene Angelil's excruciating fight with throat cancer.
Celine Dion also shared a detailed scoop about Angelil's struggle with cancer as well as his current health condition.
"He can't use his mouth, he can't eat, so I feed him," the "All By Myself" singer revealed. "He's got a feeding tube. I have to feed him three times a day."
Dion also became emotional when the ABC News host told her that "her heart is someplace else," E! News reported.
"Oh, come on, I mean, the fans know I'm an open book... I sing, that's the only thing I know," the singer tearfully said.
Celine Dion also informed Roberts that her husband needs a feeding tube in order to eat. She added that he needs to be fed through the tube three times a day. And because of the challenges her husband is currently facing, the "My Heart Will Go On" crooner has been hands-on all throughout Angelil's cancer ordeal.
Rene Angelil, whom Celine Dion married in 1994, was diagnose with cancer in 1999. Four years after, the 73-year-old Canadian artist-turned-manager underwent a surgical procedure to remove a tumor on his throat.
The Daily Mail revealed that Dion and her family are taking life a day at a time and that they are choosing to live. It was also shared that the couple's three sons, 14-year-old Rene Charles, and the 4-year-old fraternal twins Eddy and Nelson, have been with her as their father continue his battle against cancer.
And despite being scared, Celine Dion told People she has to stay strong for her family.
"I am scared of losing him, because it's bad," she said. "But I have to show myself, my husband and my kids that I'm strong and we're okay."
Dion also added that it was Angelil who urged her to perform again.
"He wants me to sing again, and I want to do this with him," the Canadian singer continued. "Rene will be in the audience. I promise there will be high, happy notes, but it's going to be very emotional for me."
Meanwhile, Celine Dion's rep confirmed the singer's Las Vegas residency. As said by her rep, the much-admired singer-songwriter will resume her residency at the Caesars Palace in late August 2015.
