Hugh Jackman recently posted a cryptic social media message that hinted a possibility for his retirement of playing the role Wolverine, Marvel's badass superhero.
Rumors have it that the upcoming 2017 standalone movie, "Wolverine 3," could be Hugh Jackman's last portrayal of Logan, one of "X-Men's" infamous hero. The speculations came after the 46-year-old actor shared a photo, which showed his hands, with Wolverine's notorious single-paired metal claws on a photo-sharing site on Saturday.
"WOLVERINE... ONE LAST TIME. HJ" Jackman captioned his Instagram photo.
After Hugh Jackman posted the startling message, several fans became curious about the reason behind the actor's decision to allegedly abandon the Marvel superhero role that earned him his superstardom status.
For the past decade-and-a-half, the acclaimed Oscar nominee played the infamous mutant character well. But according to PerezHilton, it is quite understandable if Jackman decided to drop the role of Wolverine since he had been reprising Logan's part since the first "X-Men" movie franchise in 2000.
In spite of Hugh Jackman's admission during an interview that he's enjoying playing Wolverine's role more than ever, the New York Daily News revealed that the "Real Steel" star clued that he's already feeling his age.
"I love Old Man Logan," the "Les Misérables" star stated when he opened up about the kind of Wolverine story he'd like to portray in the future.
"I'd like to think I'm a few years off that, but perhaps I'm approaching that faster than I'd like to think," he added.
Meanwhile, some of Jackman's avid fans reacted quite expressively over the actor's mysterious Instagram post. And the social media comments showed evidences of the surprising reactions of his followers.
"The day you stop playing wolverine is the day I die a little inside!!" a fan commented while another follower wrote, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." It was then followed by another emotional fan reaction, "So I'm just going to go hide in a corner and cry now."
Meanwhile, though Hugh Jackman is reportedly reprising Wolverine's role in "Wolverine 3" in 2017, it is still unconfirmed whether or not he will appear in the 2016 film franchise, "X-Men: Apocalypse," which will be Jennifer Lawrence's final portrayal of Mystique's character, Entertainment Weekly revealed.
