If the country's financial downturn is not taking enough jobs away, one actress has volunteered herself to help take at least one person's job down.
Actress Amanda Bynes has asked President Obama to fire a police officer, after she was arrested on Tuesday and charged with driving under the influence.
The star's DUI charge stemmed from a prior arrest in April after she accidently drove into a police vehicle. Earlier that month, she had also been pulled over for talking on her phone while driving.
Bynes was arraigned this morning in Beverly Hills, but was not expected to show up since her lawyer could enter a plea.
District Attorney's officials are aiming for harder punishment for the young actress, through a sentencing enhancement. They are looking to do so because Bynes allegedly refused to take a breathalyzer or a blood test when pulled over that day.
If convicted, Bynes can face up to six months in jail, but rather than wait to hear the verdict, the actress decided to take matters into her own hands.
She used Twitter.com to insist that she was being unrightfully charged.
She writes, "I was not in any hit and runs. I don't drink so the DUI is false."
Bynes then proceeded to tweet President Obama, adding, "Hey @Barack Obama...I don't drink. Please fire the cop who arrested me. I also don't hit and run. The end."
