Chad Ochocinco Released from New England Patriots

The New England Patriots officially announced the release of wide receiver Chad Ochocinco after one season with the team.

The Patriots did not get the chance to trade the player, so they completely let him go.

Judging from comments on Twitter, Ochocinco does not seem to have any ill will toward the Patriots' decision.

"Thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play for the 'Patriot' organization... fans were ... wicked awesome, I wish all of you the best," tweeted Ochocinco. The comment came only minutes after the team announced his release.

Following his goodbye to fans, the player posted photos of himself pretending to be a hitchhiker. The photos, which showed him sitting on a suitcase at the airport, were complimented by another tweet in which Ochocinco wrote "I'm healthy n living life, I'll be fine." He then proceeded to change his job description to "UNEMPLOYED BLACK GUY."

In his one season with the Patriots, Ochocinco had just one touchdown catch with 15 receptions and 276 yards,

Drew Rosenhaus, Ochocinco's sports agent, commented that the player is "in the process of gauging interest from potential teams."

Everyone is waiting to see the next step Ochocinco will make in his career. A future with his old team, the Cincinnati Bengals, is predicted to be bleak.

Joe Reedy, Cincinnati Enquirer beat reporter writes that "As for a reunion here, we don't see it happening, especially with the way things ended here. Also two of his last three seasons here, Ochocinco wasn't the receiver he once was. From 2002-07, Ochocinco averaged 88.5 catches for 1,339 yards and eight touchdowns per season. Over the last three, it was 64 catches for 806 yards and 5.7 touchdowns."
