iPhone App Developers Remain Loyal to Apple

If there is any job heavily appreciated by Apple, Inc., it is that of mobile app developers. Much of the company's success can be attributed to those continuously developing applications for the iPhone.

Many of Apple's software developers have been consistent contributors to the company. A lot of them have dedicated their skills solely to making iPhone apps. Reasons for this are because some developers find it more profitable and even much easier to develop applications for iPhones opposed to others.

"Android may have a lead in how many handsets it ships, but it doesn't have a lead in how much money app developers are making from it," said Hadi Partovi, an investor in technology start-ups like Dropbox and a former manager at Microsoft.

Apps are one of the most effective marketing tools Apple and Google use to draw in customers. According to Rob Cihra, an analyst at Evercore Partners, although both phones have developers working on applications for them, Apple phones tend to be the initial phone apps are created for.

"Apple is almost the default first platform you develop for and then you develop for Android," said Cihra.

Apple's success with the use of mobile apps is aided by the company's ability to persuade customers to stay up to date in regards to new phone software. Apple is said to be more effective in getting customers to update their devises with the most recent version of iOS than Google has been. This makes creating apps much easier for developers because there is more consistency in the device's software.

It is not quite predictable whether Apple will continue to have a strong relationship with developers, as Google's Android has been taking over market share. However, in surveys that have attempted to figure out which phone's developers will continue creating apps for that particular company in the coming years, the iPhone typically receives high ratings.
