Apple's World Wide Developer Conference kicked off today at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco early this morning. The waiting and guessing game about what the company has slowly began to cease, as the answers have finally been unraveled.
Introducing the conference, Siri entertains guests in a comedic manner, making fun of Google's Ice Cream Sandwich and Jelly Bean features. Following Siri was Apple CEO Tim Cook, who gave a keynote address on the accomplishments of Apple and gave a special recognition to the software developers who he describes as life changing individuals.
Some of the highlights of the conference included Marketing Chief Phil Schiller announcing that although there is no set price for the facetime camera, they will start shipping today. Also scheduled for shipping today is the MacBook Pro equipped with quicker memory, graphics, storage, and processor.
The Next Generation MacBook Pro will be thinner and lighter than ever with the most up to date technology. The item is .7 inches, about 25 percent thinner than the last. It features a thermal system that allows outside air into the computer as to not overheat and the sound is much quieter. The product releases today at a starting price of $2199.
For Mountain Lion there are 200 new features, some being that iMessage now supports video and the ability for the iPhone and Mac to be synchronized. If one thing is done in iCloud on a Mac it is also done on the phone when the two are synched. Mountain Lion ships in July for a low $19.99.
Safari is said to have been updated as well, with what Apple claims to be the quickest Javascript browser. The ability to scroll has picked up and it is said to be much smoother now. The notification component of the device has improved, as they can be swiped on and off the screen and allows users to go straight to the message itself. Twitter can also be accessed directly from the notification setting without having to leave and go on it separately.
The iOS 6 has over 200 new features, including Siri's new knowledge of sports and players. Siri has also improved her wits on restaurants, through Apple's partnership with Yelp for reviews, and movies, as Rotten Apple is now incorporated into Siri.
Although much of what was shared at the conference had already been predicted by customers and developers, people are still excited to take Apple's new releases for a spin, as they have been highly anticipated.
