Did Kim Richards run amuck in Beverly Hills? The 50-year-old "RHOBH" star allegedly went on a drunken rampage and kicked a police officer on Thursday, April 16.
Kim Richards, the reality star who had an emotional breakdown in "RHOBH," was reportedly arrested early Thursday morning at the Beverly Hills Hotel. According to TMZ, Richards was at the Polo Lounge inside the hotel but was asked to leave because she was being disruptive.
The authorities were called to the scene at round 1:30 a.m. after Kim Richards went to a bathroom and locked herself, ABC News revealed. Richards, who was drag out of the bathroom, was reportedly confrontational with slurred speech and reeking with the strong odor of booze. The police said that the hotel security made a citizen's arrest and she was taken into custody at 2:04 a.m.
"Richards was displaying symptoms of alcohol intoxication including slurred speech and belligerent insolent behavior," Beverly Hills Police Department representative Lt. Lincoln Hoshino said in a statement, Daily Mail quoted. "[She was] cursing at the officers and passively resisted arrest. After being transported to the station for booking, Richards kicked one of the officers in the leg; however the officer was not injured."
Meanwhile, Kim Richards has struggled with substance abuse in the past. And during the most recent season of the Bravo reality show, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," she admitted to Andy Cohen, the show's executive producer, she's an alcoholic, as per Huffington Post.
Following her arrest for public intoxication Thursday, People noted that Kim Richards might still be struggling with her sobriety. And an insider close to the Richards family said that family members don't believe she has been able to stay clean of alcohol.
"It will never get better... [Kim] has been acting increasingly out of it," the source told People. "She's been a mess, showing up late to events and social gatherings and acting bizarre or belligerent or both."
While the whole situation is "heartbreaking" for the family, the insider also explained that her family loves her and wanted to help. However, no one can talk any sense into her.
"They of course love [Kim] and want to help, but no one can talk any sense into her because she is so out of it," the source added.
Kim Richards was released about 10:30 am after she was arrested. E! News stated she was issued a citation charging her with public intoxication, trespassing, resisting an officer and battery on a police officer. She is due to appear in court on June 10.
