The iPhone 5 release date is still unknown, but there have been so many rumors circulating this upcoming device. However, what was announced at WWDC 2012 may have given us some clues about the next iPhone model by Apple.
Although there has been no specific release date for the iOS 6, it was confirmed that it will be available this coming fall. Its 4G LTE capability will allow for the sending and retrieval of Facetime calls, wherever you happen to be-no longer restricting users to Wi-Fi. This may put a strain on the networks that carry the iPhone which include AT&T, Sprint and Verizon. Sprint does not have its 4G LTE network up yet, and without it, FaceTime over its 3G network could be crippling.
The new iPhone's FaceTime Camera will be better and while the rear camera on the iPhone 4S is amazing, the front-facing camera leaves something to be anticipated. There have been rumors that Apple might include an HD FaceTime camera on the iPhone 5 and iOS 6 seems to back that concept up.
We've witnessed advanced features in the iPhone over the years and we can only presume that the iPhone will replace more devices. Take a look at mp3 players, kitchen timers, flashlights/keychain lights, books and magazines! (Just to name a few). Apple has partnered with TomTom for its new Maps application in iOS 6 and this means a lot more to offer than what we expect from GoogleMaps apparently.
There have been significant improvements made to Siri. Many iPhone 4S users have found Siri to be a bit flawed, but with the new upcoming changes, users may just use the feature more than ever. Whether its sports questions like: "Who is taller, Lebron or Kobe?" Or inquiries related to restaurants such as: "Where is a great place for dinner?" Siri has gotten a lot smarter and can provide you with the answers. Siri has partnered with Yelp and OpenTable and will sort listings by the ratings, make you dinner reservations , and so much more. The feature will also be more international and for the first time ever, Siri will be on the NEW iPad. With the chance to take Siri a bit more seriously, it hints towards possible new microphones.
The push for a more global device is definitely apparent in iOS 6. Apple has been making a strong push into China, opening retail locations and launching iOS-powering devices. China got the iPhone 4S several months after the United States and other launch countries, but there are a lot of Chinese-specific features found in iOS 6 and this may be a sign that Apple is preparing to narrow the release date gap between the two countries with the iPhone 5.
Another feature that we can most likely expect from the iPhone 5 is the improved display. The Retina Display on the iPhone 4S is pretty established, but Apple might be thinking of improving it even more. iOS 6 is going to be bringing FaceTime over cellular and with this, there would need to be features created in order to provide a more comfortable chatting experience. For example, during the day the glare from the sun could make it difficult, which may just mean that Apple is thinking about putting the same anti-glare coating it put on the new MacBook Pro's Retina Display on the display of the iPhone 5.
The rumors that have been circling the new iPhone 5 has only caused great anticipation for iPhone fans, but the only thing we can do as of right now is wait and see what Apple has in store.
