"Revenge" Season 4 Finale - ABC's vengeance-filled series, "Revenge," is making a final run on May 10. And as Emily Thorne/Amanda Clarke-Victoria Grayson's pursuit for revenge finally ends with a "little cliffhanger," will there be a spin-off of the series?
In 2011, "Revenge" debuted as one of ABC's strong performers in primetime shows. However, Entertainment Weekly exclusively learned that the Amanda and Victoria's saga will end after four seasons.
"We can officially tell our fans that this will be the end of the story," executive producer Sunil Nayar said. "We've been talking to the network and we all just wanted to make sure that we felt very confident. Now that everybody has seen the finale-which is fabulous-everybody understands that as much as we all adore the show, it has hit exactly the mark it needed to end. This is the series finale of 'Revenge' that will be airing in a couple weeks."
As the speculation was confirmed that "Revenge" Season 4 will be last season of the show, many fans are definitely disheartened. But as the show reaches its conclusion, Cinema Blend noted that it will continue to shock fans with two more action-packed episodes.
In "Revenge" Season 4 spoiler that we previously reported, actress Madeleine Stowe, who plays the role of Victoria, confirmed her on-screen character's demise in episode 21.
"People have different theories about it all, but one thing you need to remember is that Victoria has displayed that she's suicidal," Stowe told TVLine. "There's always been a bit of a death wish in her. She has a history of that, so this shouldn't be a complete surprise."
Stowe also told E! News that her character will only appear in "flashbacks" in the remaining episodes of "Revenge" Season 4 and teased about the impact of Victoria's demise in the series' finale.
"This is my last season," she added. "I can't give away the ending because I think it's going to be bittersweet, but I can tell you this: these woman are always going to be tied together."
Moreover, series' producer Nayar also sparked fans' curiosity when he revealed the finale will be heartbreaking, International Business Times reported. He also clued that season 4 will end with a "little cliffhanger."
"People will understand exactly where they stand in the finale," Nayar told TVGuide. "We'll really tap into what the world means now that she's Amanda Clark and that he's Jack Porter and ... it's heartbreaking in some ways and really satisfying in others."
"There's a tiny little cliffhanger in the series finale," he added, Hollywood Life quoted. "We don't want people to get weary of the stories we're telling, so we felt like they deserve an ending to this novel that Mike Kelley started four years ago. I really feel like the last couple chapters are worthy of the first many."
Before making the announcement, ABC might have taken time as there is a new project in the vein of "Revenge," which is "The Kingmakers." According to Deadline, the show is also about a twenty-something assuming a new identity in order to investigate and avenge the death of a loved one. Will this be a spin-off of "Revenge?"
"There isn't a whole lot that I can say to that except that 'Kingmakers' is fabulous" Nayar said. "I haven't had a chance to see it yet, but boy did I love the scripts. It's got the blood and passion of 'Revenge' hardwired into what the show is, but at the moment, it is not a spinoff in that there's no characters from this show that are, at the moment, planning on being in that show, but never say never."
Meanwhile, as "Revenge" Season 4 ends in "Two Graves," Ecumenical News reported that Amanda might admit her past misdemeanors. While TVLine teased that she will go out on her own terms like her foe, Victoria.
"There are epic emotional moments in the finale," Nayar said. "There are really shocking things that happen in the finale... I truly believe our finale is the perfect mix of all those three things. I think they're going to be extremely satisfied."
Before fans find out the end in "Revenge" Season 4, the penultimate episode will see a compelling return of Charlotte, a life-changing event for David as he battles with cancer and a change in Nick and Amanda's relationship.
Now, "Revenge" fans know that Victoria and Amanda's fate is somehow intertwined together. The series started when Amanda sought revenge on Victoria and ended with the latter's pursuit of vengeance on Emily. So, will death be the only option to end the endless retaliation cycle?
