According to ConnecticutGasPrices.com, the average price for a gallon of Connecticut gasoline fell 5.3 cents last week to $3.70 as of Sunday.
Just a month ago, Connecticut gas prices were $4. In only a week, the state average dropped seven cents.
"While current factors still point to some falling gasoline prices in some areas, mainly the West Coast, oil prices haven't continued to shed as much value in the past week," said senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan, of GasBuddy.com, in a statement. "Prices in the past few years have bottomed out in June; we could see a similar situation play out this year."
While the prices for gas in Connecticut keep declining, in many places they are still far above the national average of $3.56. For example, some stations in Fairfield County are charging more than $4 a gallon for regular.
DeHaan wrote the following in his weekly analyst's note, according to NorwichBulletin: "I have a sneaking suspicion that the election in Greece may stir up oil prices this week, and we could see oil prices gain as markets feel more upbeat about the economic situation."
The cheapest gas in the Hamden area is reported at several Dixwell Avenue stations where the price per gallon is $3.58.
