Microsoft has launched its Windows 10159, its latest operating system on Tuesday, immediately after its last update.
In a PC World report, Microsoft's general engineering manager Gabe Aul announced in his blog post that the latest build has been released to testers on their fast ring.
Aul wrote that unlike its predecessor, the 10158 is choc-ful of more than 300 bug fixes and an unnamed change that he said is interesting. As for features, this latest build does not put much on the table.
But this unnamed change according to Neowin is the login screen's redesign that puts a user's photo front and center in a translucent pane over their desktop picture. This is different from the previous login screen where the user's photo is placed to one side, along with their name, email account and password field.
A new default wallpaper is an added attraction that the OS giant unveiled last week. This new default wallpaper boasts of a shining light through the traditional Windows logo courtesy of a team that used light lasers, lens flares and haze with camera mapping techniques to create such distinctive effect.
Those who have downloaded the previous version (10158) may receive the coded error 0x80246017. Aul said that if such situation occurs, users can reboot their PC and check for updates again in order to get the new build. He added that this situation would be rare since Microsoft has ceased the previous build.
CNET asked Aul for any potential bugs, and Aul said that they do not know any significant issues for this latest build that is worth noting in the blog post. He also added that they are servicing several issues and that users should check Windows Update for those.
Compared to Windows 8, Windows 10 has taken a quantum step to putting things right. With a user-friendly OS and new features that serves a purpose and not just for kicks, Windows 10 is easy to recommend.
