Snapchat recently unveiled this Wednesday a new way at how you look at snaps when receiving them.
Before, viewing a snap or a Snapchat Story requires pressing and holding down the screen. With Snapchat's new "Tap to View," you simply press to open a snap for easy viewing.
CEO Evan Spiegel hinted at this change during the Code Conference last May, stating that it's just kind of annoying to hold your finger there for so long.
Added features include adding friends based on geolocation. If you are hanging out with someone who is not a part of your Snapchat circle, just use "Add Nearby" to add the people around you in a snap.
Business Insider shows an image of how to use Snapchat's lesser-known feauture, the QR code. The newest update allows you to replace the iconic ghost logo on the QR code with a selfie. Mashable explains further that with animated selfies tap on your Snapcode, tapping on the ghost icon will take a burst of 5 rapid-fire selfies like an animated GIF.
Snapchat is also introducing a two-step authentication for better user security. This feature is enabled using your phone number from the "Login Verification" menu in the app's settings.
The Verge said that the new Snapchat update brings major changes the way snaps are enjoyed. This could create mixed reactions from users. The tap-and-hold utilization was what made Snapchat special and enjoyable to many. Holding and dragging a finger down could prove too engaging for some.
In a blog post, the company said that the change will take a little getting used to for anyone who has been snapchatting for a while.
This change of course, will not make users stuck looking at very long stories. Skipping to the next photo or video by screen tapping or swiping down to exit are still retained features.
