Ash Williams is back with his chainsaw battling the evil dead! First photo released by Entertaintment Weekly showed Bruce Campbell's "Ash vs Evil Dead" character standing tall together with Kelly (Dana Delorenzo) and Pablo (Ray Santiago), two fellow employees from Value Stop. It seemed that a fight has just taken place judging from the blood splatters on their clothes and bodies as well as on the rooms' wall and ceiling.
Fans of the Starz franchise has been clamoring for some time now for Ash to return and take another shot at removing the demons from the world. They even tried to convince New Line Cinema to support a grand showdown between Freddy Kreuger, Jason Voorhees and of course Ash but their efforts were a lost cause, as told by CNET.
Now, after a 22-year break, the foolish warrior is once again in the forefront of the "Evil Dead" franchise with 10 episodes this fall of "Ash vs Evil Dead." Yes, the beloved chainsaw is back strapped in his chest. He even dragged his two co-workers into his latest confrontation with the vile deadites. Get ready for the bloodshed and gore!
According to Aceshowbiz, Campbell divulged information to what Ash has been up to during his two decade hiatus. "Not much!" the actor said, "He was perfectly happy doing basically nothing: telling lies about how he lost his hand in bars late at night. That was basically his MO. So, he's not really the guy who should be dealing with this right now. But...he is. He's our guy!"
He added, describing his latest battle, "It's 'The Searchers' with carnage and mayhem. I'm relegated a little bit into the John Wayne mode these days with my team-the young, virile, evil fighters who will pair up with Ash and take on this nemesis: this never ending, ever evolving nemesis."
Sam Raimi, who directed the pilot episode of the TV show, said Ash has once again accidentally unleashed the evil dead into the world. "He's the only one stupid enough to really tamper with those spirits," the filmmaker continued. "And he does. But he's also still a really good monster fighter. So, he's also going to be kicking some deadite buttocks, if you'll pardon the French."
