Verizon Wireless announced that it will be expanding its 4G Long Term Evolution (LTE) network on June 21. This will follow Verizon's recent launch of an even bigger expansion to the United States' eastern seaboard.
The expansion will take place in various areas of the United States and will cover a total of 46 new markets. Verizon users in these areas will be able to receive rapid data speeds that are said to be 10 times quicker than Verizon's CDMA 3G network.
The company hopes to continue to continue stretching the markets they cover within the next six months.
"We are committed to cover more than 400 markets by the end of 2012," Verizon stated in a press release.
According to Verizon, the new 4G LTE network is the largest nationally and internationally.
"Our aggressive 4G LTE network build-out is on track, providing our customers with the largest 4G LTE network in the United States - and the world - today. We will continue to expand and strengthen our 4G LTE network and plan to offer full nationwide coverage everywhere we have 3G coverage today, by the end of 2013."
The announcement comes at a time when Verizon has recently announced its Samsung Galaxy S III, the newest device that will include the 4G LTE network.
The company currently has 24 4G LTE devices, ranging from smartphones, mobile hotspots, tablets, and more. This is more than any other mobile phone carrier.
