Waking up to go to work every day might be hard for most of us, but for some people, the very idea of having to go to work the next day is just as stressful as being there.
According to careercast.com's Jobs Rated study, the following jobs placed on a list of ten of the most stressful jobs of 2012. The top five included enlisted soldier, fire fighter, police officer, pilot, and military general, but it's the last few on the list that may surprise you.
Event Coordinator
The job title of event coordinator on first glance sounds glamorous and appealing. However, aside from the glitz that goes into an event, planning it and assuring that a client's special day is exactly that can be extremely stressful. Oftentimes, event planners are hired for larger events such as weddings, which typically happen once in life. The stress of making it exactly what the person dreamed of places the job at the number six spot, with a stress score of 49.85 points out of one hundred, on the list of this year's most stressful job.
Public Relations Executive
People with this job title have the potential to make or break a company's professional image, simply by the way in which they represent the company. The stress of having to keep up a positive image for companies is not as easy as it may sound. The job typically entails giving speeches and presentations in front of large crowds, on behalf of a person or company. Sound stressful yet? The job also entails dealing with the media, which can be scrutinizing in and of itself. All of these things place this position on the number seven spot on the list, with a stress level of 47.56.
Taxi Driver
Taxi drivers scored a 46.25 stress rating and were number ten on the list. This job is demanding and stressful because drivers must be familiar with navigation around all areas. Having to be timely in picking up and dropping people off constantly, for little pay and long hours, can really weigh heavily on drivers. Not only does their worry lie in customer satisfaction, but the fact that taxi drivers are the number one targets for crime in most cities, adds to this stress.
