Euro 2012 Schedule and Live Streaming: Greece Faces fully-armed Germany

Greece will play hard against the powerhouse Germany on Friday in the Polish city of Gdansh in a EURO 2012 quarterfinal.

Despite winning the tournament in 2004, Greece is still considered one of the weakest teams remaining in this year’s tournament, facing against the best favored Germany.

Germany’s coach Joachim Loew has a full squad to pick from throughout the tournament, while Greece is suffering big losses of their suspended captain and playmaker Giorgos Karagounis.

It is also reported that German Chancellor Angela Merkel is scheduled to watch the match in person.

It is fair enough to say that Greece will have an uphill battle to fight, according to the record of the performance of the Germans, who have won 14 competitive games so far and won all 8 meetings against Greece.

Germany does not intent to be relaxed about the match, however.

"It will be very important to use the few chances we will get with a killer instinct.” Coach Joachim Loew of Germany said.

“We will crash into a granite block with their defense but I am sure we will get our chances if we work hard. It will be a tight game because the Greeks are not easy to break apart. They have their own style of play. It is in their blood, a tight defense and strong counter-attacks. We keep writing them off but they are always there. They are... survival artists."

Greece, on the other hand, needs “pray for a miracle” to win the game, according to their stand-in captain Kostas Katsouranis. And even if Germany has the best players at international level, Greece will strive to make history again driven by their victory in euro 2004.

The game begins 2:30 p.m. ET, and ESPN will broadcast the live streaming online.
