Thursday night was truly a victorious evening for the Miami Heat, as they were hailed 2012 NBA Finals Champions. Miami Heat's Small Forward LeBron James, celebrated with his teammates, not only for the team's victory but for his own MVP title as well.
Game 5 of the NBA Finals was intense and both teams, Oklahoma City Thunder and Miami Heat gave the game there all, but with Miami coming out on top with a lead of 3-1. Miami led by 10 at half time and the final score was 121-106. It was the Heat's first title since James and Power Forward Chris Bosh joined the team as free agents in the summer of 2010, forming an All-Star core.
James's contentment on the court right before and after the buzzer was evident, as he jumped up and down with joy. After nine years, James finally gets the ring that he has desired for so long.
"It's about damn time," James told the crowd when asked what went through his mind after winning his long-awaited title.
James played for the Cleveland Cavaliers from 2003-2010 and became a free agent on July 1, 2010. He was courted by several teams, including the Knicks, Nets, Heat, Bulls, Clippers and his hometown Cavaliers. On July 8, James announced on a live ESPN special, The Decision,that he would be playing for the Miami Heat.
James, with the "Chosen One" tattoo, now has a trophy to validate the claim.
