Actor Bill Murray invaded Comic-Con 2015 for the first time ever! Amidst the sounds of "Smoke on the Water" and 6,000 fans screaming throughout the huge Hall H, Murray made his appearance onstage.
The "Ghostbusters" star kicked off the biggest gathering of stars from upcoming billion-dollar hit movie blockbusters and superhero-themed films as well as TV show's latest offering.
Wearing a suede jacket paired with aviators and a bandanna decked with tiny flowers covering his head, looking very much like his character Richie Lantz, the iconic comedian walked through the throng of avid fans with an air of a rock idol to introduce his soon to come out Kabul-set comedy, "Rock the Kasbah," as reported by The Daily Beast.
In the movie, he plays a music manager who lost his drive in life. He discovers a young Afghan woman with a majestic voice and helps her to achieve her big break on Afghan Star — American Idol's local version.
Bill Murray uttered to the Comic-Con crowd, "I'm rock and roll. That's what I am."
His appearance allowed him to touch on subjects that covers almost everything from Barry Levinson's new flick to some of his well-known co-actors.
Asked by a fan, "Is Bruce Willis really a jacka--?"
Defending the veteran actor, Murray stated, "He's a movie star." He added that he and the "Die Hard" actor stayed in a dual trailer while on the set of "Rock the Kasbah" in Morrocco's harsh climate, where the temperature could get up to 116 degrees Fahrenheit.
He said, "When you're a movie star you sometimes have to take matters into your own hands. In the name of entertainment and just respecting the crew ... there are people who try to take over advantage of a group situation and dominate ("producers slime") and a movie star can step in and say 'That ain't gonna happen boss,'" as told by Boston Herald.
Gulf News revealed that Murray also came to Miley Cyrus' defense which surprised everyone present at Comic-Con. Cyrus will appear on his upcoming Christmas special on Netflix.
"I'm gonna say this officially: Miley Cyrus is good," he remarked. "I thought she was a knucklehead crazy girl, the kind of girl you'd want to go on a road trip with. But she can really sing ... I don't wanna hear any bad rapping on Miley Cyrus."
At the end of the presentation, Bill Murray has this to say about Comic-Con: "Some of the best parties I've ever been to," he said, "were with really insane nerds."
Comic-Con which started in 1970, is a convention for comics, science fiction and movie fanatics.
