‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’ Cast Brings The House Down At San Diego Comic-Con

The "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" cast at the San Diego Comic-Con received an extremely warm reception from fans in San Diego on Friday evening. The panel, composed of the original cast featuring Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher, became one of the most anticipated appearances at the convention.

The panel for the seventh installment of the "Star Wars" saga were director J.J. Abrams, screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan and executive producer Kathleen Kennedy. Fans however were treated to a big surprise when the three original stars appeared alongside newcomers John Boyega and Daisy Ridley, said the Daily Beast.

Fisher said the cast and crew of the new "Star Wars" movies referred to her, Hamill, and Ford as "the legacy people," reported the Sydney Morning Herald.

The Guardian reported that that queues for the event stood for days. Comic-Con gave Harrison Ford a standing ovation as soon as he walked to the stage. The crowd was pleased to see the actor after his recent injury. Of his return to the "Star Wars" arena, he said that he was very gratified when he read the [new] script. He read something that he thought was really remarkable, really well-written, with very intriguing developments and he was very happy to be a part of the story.

For Carrie Fisher, it felt like a flashback, and she didn't think it was going to happen again. Mark Hamill talked about the radical change in the film promotion, citing that there used to be no footage, and that they only had R2D2 and C3PO as props.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" will hit cinemas on December 2015. Other members of the cast include Oscar Isaac (who plays a pilot named Poe Dameron). The antiheroes include Adam Driver (Kylo Ren), Domhnall Gleeson (General Hux) and Gwendoline Christie (yes, Brienne of Tarth from HBO's "Game of Thrones" as Captain Phasma).
