Tupac Shakur: Drug Lord Admits to Involvement in 1994 Shooting of Rapper

Tupac Shakur, known by his stage name, 2Pac, was an American rapper and actor. In 1994, he was robbed and shot at New York's Quad Recording Studios, and after 18 years, a secret confession was ultimately brought forth in court by a man Tupac had already called out for the crime in his 1996 track "Against All Odds."

The 1994 attack left the rapper shot, robbed and nearly dead. James Rosemond, also known as "Jimmy Henchman," did not go unnoticed. In "Against All Odds," Tupac accused Rosemond of responsibility for the crime.

In his lyrics, Tupac raps, "...Promised a payback, Jimmy Henchman, in due time/ I know you -- -- is listenin', The World is Mine."

According to Village Voice Writer Chuck Phillips, who has long investigated the murders of Shakur, Rosemond made the admission during proffer sessions last fall where his confession would not be used against him during unaffiliated drug trafficking case which involved millions of dollars of cocaine.

Per Chuck Phillips article, "Rosemond apparently came clean about his involvement in Tupac's ambush shortly after his former best friend, Dexter Isaac, stepped forward last summer to publicly confess that he had led the attack on Shakur in 1994. Isaac released a statement on June 16, 2011 to allhiphop.com, saying it was Rosemond who had paid him to rob and pistol-whip Tupac."

Unfortunately for the Tupac fans who wish to see justice served, it is too late for that. Despite Rosmond's admission, the statute of limitations expired over 10 years ago. Therefore, no one will ever be tried in the crime.

On September 7, 1996, Shakur was shot four times in Las Vegas, Nevada by an unknown assailant. He died in the hospital of internal bleeding, six days later.
