The Gladers escaped the Maze, and now they're back for "Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials."
The panel — together with director Wes Ball — didn't just unveil the movie's trailer, but also addressed some curious inquiries of the fans in San Diego's Comic-Con event on Saturday.
So what are the things that fans should expect to see in the "The Maze Runner" sequel?
New Cast
Rosa Salazar (Brenda), Giancarlo Esposito (Jorge) and Jacob Lofland (Aris) were added into the cast to play significant roles in the new movie.
Salazar admitted, during the Comic-con event, that it was her first time to see the trailer and admitted that she was blown away, MTV reported.
The Flare
"Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials" introduces this deadly virus, according to Entertainment Weekly. It eats the brain, eventually turning the victims into blood-thirsty cannibals.
According to the story, the Flare is brought about by the sun. This virus wiped out almost the entire humanity.
In "The Maze Runner," Thomas (Dylan O'Brien), Newt (Thomas Brodie-Sangter), Minho (Ki Hong Lee) and the other Gladers survived this catastrophic event and became immune. They were put into the Maze by an organization called WICKED for experimentation.
The Cranks
They, people who are infected by the Flare, are the film's new villains. They are called the Cranks once they lose their sanity.
Every city in the world that's wiped out by the solar flare has a special territory called The Crank Palace.
New Novel
Writers Jackson Lanzing and Kyle Kelly confirmed that the studio is planning to release a new graphic novel set in the world of "The Maze Runner" film, Comic Book has learned.
There's going to be five tales, along with the key players of course. The first one is "Run Alone," wherein the story will revolve around Min Ho and his new apprentice, Ben.
"My Friend George" will be the second story. It will center on Alby, the leader in the first film and George.
The third one is "True Maze." The story will revolve around Aris, the only boy in Group B, and Rachel, who was described as a brave leader with a dark future.
The fourth is entitled "Scorched." It will give the readers a good look at the established alliances and events following the "Scorch Trials."
"World Gone Wicked" is the title of the last story. It's a prequel, beginning decades before the "Maze Runner."
