We are all familiar with the mantra that "bigger is better." Now that Apple is under the Tim Cook era, we have seen larger iPhones and, now, get ready for an even larger iPad, as Apple is planning to launch the iPad Pro to challenge Microsoft's Surface and assorted Android tablets. Why not? After all, Apple started the tablet phenomenon.
CBS News reported that Apple's entry into the giant tablet fray also had something to do with the introduction of Apple's latest operating system, the iOS 9, which includes multitasking support and both iPad Air 2 and iPad Pro can take advantage of this.
Daily Mail said Apple's giant tablet will reportedly have an all-new pressure sensitive Bluetooth stylus accessory, as well as a pressure sensitive screen. Apple, however, is throwing caution to the wind, since its initial shipment is lower than what the market expected.
Market analysts attribute this caution to the dwindling demands for tablets. The popularity of large screen smartphones dubbed as "phablets" have impacted the sales of iPad and other brand tablets. Moreover, phablets offer more features and updated applications that tablets lack.
Digitimes reported that Apple's upstream supply chain will start supplying components for this behemoth iPad in late September and it will be available by mid-November. Foxconn Electronics will reportedly handle the tablet's manufacturing.
The Mirror said that many believe the iPad Pro will support the Force Touch input the company had developed for the Apple Watch and its new Macbooks. The Force Touch will allow users to press down harder on the screen to access extra features.
Large tablets aren't new in the tech industry. Samsung has its 12.2-inch Galaxy Tab Pro, while Microsoft has the 12-inch Surface Pro 3. Apple wants in on the size range, so that it can leave its mark once again.
