The trailer for the "Fantastic Four" reboot was unveiled at the San Diego Comic-Con and it shows how the heroes got their powers.
Rollingstone reported that the "Fantastic Four" reboot is almost like a "prequel" to an origin film. The trailer opens with a young Reed Richard, telling the class about his new invention — a teleportation device. Director Josh Trank said that it was the intention of the film to show the characters before they became superheroes.
The trailer also shows how it all started — a government project that led Richard Reed (Miles Teller), Johnny Storm (Michael B. Jordan), Sue Storm (Kate Mara) and Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) to another universe. The team manage to get back to Earth, but not without any consequence. The trailer then shows the individual powers that each one has and how they face the challenge of living with it. Johnny Storm or "Human Torch," just like in the previous film, appeared to be the most comfortable one when it comes to having powers. He even said that he needs a "heat-resistant workshop" and of course, "a big ass sun roof."
The "Fantastic Four" reboot is quite different from the first one. Mirror reported that the new film has a darker tone compared to the last one, but the film also has a lighter side. There were a few scenes where the cast joke around each other — almost like a family.
The trailer also hints that the government will probably go against the team but they soon realized that they need the "Fantastic Four" to defeat "Doom." Toby Kebbell, known for his role in the movie "Wrath of the Titans," plays the role of Doctor Doom who says in the teaser, "This is the end of your world, and the beginning of mine."
Slate reported that "Fantastic Four" is set to hit theaters on August 7. Watch the trailer here:
