"The Flash" is casting Michael Ironside to play Lewis Snart, Access Hollywood confirmed, Tuesday.
The introduction of Lewis Snart as Captain Cold's father may shed some light and explain why he [Captain Cold] has a lot of issues, including the dire need to get something out of helping someone.
"Hopefully we'll get to explore some of that, because I'm curious as to why he is the way that he is," Miller said in an interview at the Comic-con in San Diego.
Lewis is described as the no longer affectionate, vicious father of Leonard Snart (Wentworth Miller) and Lisa Snart (Peyton List). This cold-blooded, ruthless criminal, who was recently released from prison returns to Central City, with a furtive plan that reportedly will put the lives of his children in danger.
Meanwhile, Captain Cold and Golden Glider (List) will become part of "Legends of Tomorrow," "The Flash"/"Arrow" spin-off. The new series is set to premiere next year, The Hollywood Reported has learned.
The fans will learn that the Snarts' villainous ways were inherited from their father.
Lewis Snart's character wasn't fully explained in the comic books. This is why the series will have the freedom to explore and interpret Ironside's character, according to Cinemablend.
Ironside, who played Lois Lane's dad on "Smallville," will make an appearance in the "Family of Rogues" — pisode 203 of "The Flash." He used to voice characters in "Batman," "Superman," "Justice League" and "Wolverine and the X-Men" the animated version.
He is also known for movies such as "Top Gun," "Total Recall," "Terminator Salvation" and "The Perfect Storm."
The producers said that the first few episodes of "The Flash" and "Arrow" would help build the characters for the spin-off.
"The Flash" season two will premiere on Oct. 6, at 8 p.m. on The CW.
Grant Gustin, Miller and List will reprise their roles in the upcoming season.
