"Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!" star Tara Reid never thought that, when she signed up for "Sharknado" in 2013, there would even be a sequel much less a third installment.
The "American Pie" star exclaimed, "I didn't think there would be a second, and now we're up to a trilogy. All the time, I'm thinking, 'How am I going to pull this off? How am I going to say this dialogue? You've got to be kidding me.' It's ridiculous, and I have to say it seriously. But somehow it works."
Sharknado was a low-budgeted Syfy film and was not anticipated to earn a lot of moviegoers nod. But sometimes, even small financed films such as this will surprise you.
In "Sharknado 2", New York City stood in the path of deadly sharks which were brought to the city by a freak weather disturbance.
So where will the flying sharks land next? Find out below (major spoilers ahead!!!).
"Sharknado 3" shows the whole Eastern seaboard in trouble of being annihilated by the great whites that are brought in by a tornado. The new battle of man versus fish starts in the nation's capital, Washington, D.C., and spreads down to Orlando, Florida, with Fin, played by "Beverly Hills 90210" alum Ian Ziering, and April, played by Tara Reid, in hot pursuit while doing their best to survive, as per Fox News.
Every "Sharknado" franchise has leveled up the action but still kept the fun parts. Guest cast of "Sharknado 3" includes veteran actors Bo Derek as April's mom and David Hasselhoff who plays Fin's father, Gil.
"The most beautiful woman alive is my mother," Reid said, "Bo's amazing. She's such a wonderful person. She's not just beautiful on the outside; she's beautiful on the inside. Her whole vibe is cool and chilled out."
Other stars in "Sharknado 3" include Mark Cuban in a cameo role as the chief executive of the United States of America, Anne Coulter as the second in command or vice president, Jerry Springer as a nutty tourist Mr. White, Michele Bachmann as herself, N SYNC singer Chris Kirkpatrick as a pool lifeguard, Washington Redskins tackle Tom Compton as a reporter and Chris Jericho as Bruce, the roller coaster ride operator.
Those who have seen the previous installment of "Sharknado 3" will recall that April lost a hand resulting in her having a cool weapon armament at hand to use against the deadly flying fish.
Reid described her hand as "pretty amazing" and compared it to a Swiss Army blade. "Now, that it [has] gotten bit off, it's a prosthetic, so there's clips on it. We have a hand, we have a saw. It's like the bionic hand. This hand can kick some serious shark butt."
So what made the "Sharknado" franchise clicked to the audience that it resulted to the creation of "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!?"
The first and foremost reason might be because a shark attack is a natural occurrence. Remember "Jaws?"
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter detailed what Senior VP for Program Strategy at Syfy and "Sharknado 3" producer, Chris Regina, had to say about the movie.
"We always challenge ourselves and ask, 'How can we make it bigger and better than the last one?' And that is a challenge because as we keep one-upping ourselves, we have to come up with new, creative ways to shock, awe and surprise," she said about "Sharknado 3."
However, The Salt Lake Tribune was not all sold out at the concept of the movie. They commented that "Sharknado" was badly done, stupid and ridiculous. The only thing that made it such a phenomenon was because of social media. It's first airing just drew in 1.37 million movie viewers but after it got talked about on Twitter, a second airing got 1.89 million viewers and a third airing drew a whooping 2.1 million.
Nevertheless, whether you're a fan or just curious what the fuss is all about, "Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No" debuts on the Syfy Channel on Wednesday, 10 p.m. It will also be seen in 86 countries including the U.K., countries in Europe, Latin America, Asia and also Australia.
