"Iron Man 4" is definitely happening! Director Shane Black who helmed "Iron Man 3" revealed via Master Herald that there is a big possibility it will push through and also persisted that Robert Downey Jr. will still suit up as Tony Stark amidst rumors that actor Ty Simpkins will replace Downey Jr.
A report from Venture Capital Post revealed, "Iron Man 4" will most probably be given a go signal by Marvel at the third phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, happening in 2019, following the release of 'Avengers: Infinity War Part 2," as per Realty Today.
Negotiations are ongoing between Robert Downey Jr. and Marvel for "Iron Man 4." The actor reportedly had asked for a raise on his talent fee, a much higher amount than $50 million from what he got in "Iron Man 3."
In 2013, Robert Downey Jr. was hailed as Forbes Highest Paid Actor after obtaining an estimated $75 million from his movie appearances. If the news about him asking for a raise were true, Marvel Studios will not have any problems of granting it to him since "Iron Man 3" has gained over $1.22 billion all over the world, bringing "Iron Man 3" to the top 8 for the highest grossing movie of all time.
But then again, Robert Downey Jr. would surely hold on to Iron Man and Tony Stark because these roles made it possible for him to reach the status of being the highest paid celebrity in Hollywood for two straight years. Marvel's concern though, "Iron Man" might be oversaturated since he has appeared and will appear in practically every Marvel movie from 2014 up to 2019, as per Master Herald.
Meanwhile, veteran actor from Hollywood, Robert Duvall, expressed his thoughts about "Iron Man 4." The actor said Robert Downey Jr. should hold on to his role as Tony Stark and not give it up for anybody else. Duvall gave the unsolicited advice to Downey Jr. during an interview recently for their movie together with the title "Judge."
In related news, The Guardian reported that Robert Downey Jr. and wife Susan Downey, a producer, will develop a politically-inspired movie which revolves around a series of broadcasted presidential debates through their own production company Team Downey.
It is said that the husband-and-wife team has contracted writer Bill Dubuque to handle the script. Dubuque also co-wrote "The Judge," an earlier Team Downey production which starred Downey in a lead role and got a People's Choice award.
As for "Iron Man 4," concrete details have yet to be given out and confirmed by Marvel representatives. However, Iron Man will be appearing in the forthcoming Captain America movie, "Captain America: Civil War," which will hit theaters in May 2016
