"Street Fighter V" beta, which is only exclusive to PlayStation 4 (PS4), is facing some connectivity problems after going live on Thursday.
Users reported issues in logging in and connecting to the server. Capcom is still working on matchmaking issues, but some players may be able to access the Training mode, IGN has learned.
The servers of "Street Fighter V" were brought down for temporary fixes as of 7:25 p.m., according to a tweet shared on the official "Street Fighter V" Twitter account. Unfortunately, Capcom is still trying to figure out what caused these issues.
Yoshinori Ono, Street Fighter producer, took to Twitter to announce that they were going to perform a maintenance by 11 p.m. PST to 1 a.m. PST and apologized for the inconvenience.
@StreetFighter additionally tweeted, "We will be extending the Street Fighter V beta's scheduled maintenance by 2 hours (3am PST). We apologize for the inconvenience."
It's beta after all, so it's hard to get too grumpy about it, said Eurogamer. Anyway, Capcom said they will be extending the beta to make up for the issues encountered.
"Street Fighter V" isn't the first game where Capcom encountered problems following the beta release.
"Street Fighter IV," which was launched in May, also had some issues and the worst part was it caused the company to pull it from the 2015 Capcom Pro Tour.
The lag in the PS4 of "Street Fighter IV" was on par with the Xbox 360 version. During the Pro Tour, the PS3 version will be used until the PS4 version becomes available in Asia, according to Playstation Lifestyle.
This beta, the first public test of the game's net code, is crucial. It is an early step in transforming the "Street Fighter" franchise from a classic console-based into a platform, Gamasutra reported.
"Street Fighter" was labelled as the mother of all fighting games and the strongest franchise in Capcom, so let's cross our fingers and hope that it will be fixed really soon.
"Street Fighter V" will be available in 2016.
