"The Vampire Diaries," the well-received vampire drama, is making its television comeback on CW this October for its seventh season. Though one much-loved character will be missing, the Season 7 will be all about love and romance.
While Nina Dobrev's character, Elena, won't be coming back on the upcoming "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7, the vampire drama will be focusing more on Stefan and Caroline's romance. It will also delve into Damon and Bonnie's complicated relationship as "TVD" star Ian Somerhalder revealed that the two will be "stuck together" when the show returns this fall.
Aside from the romances, "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 could still bring back Nina Dobrev's beloved character, Elena Gilbert. International Business Times noted that Elena was given a felicitous farewell in the sixth season finale when she was put under a sleeping spell and was henceforth bound not wake up as long as powerful witch Bonnie Bennett (Kat Graham) lives.
Moreover, actress Candice Accola, who plays the role of Caroline in "TVD," hinted that Elena could return to the show when the series finally goes on air.
"We're used of people leave the show and then coming back from the dead," Accola told Just Jared. "You never know what will happen."
Accola's disclosure of Elena's possible comeback in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 is not really surprising since the drama has already killed off several characters — Alaric, Lexie and Vicki — who all have post death appearances in the series. The most remarkable return so far was Matt Davis' Alaric during the previous season where he became a series regular.
Accola also opened up about Nina Dobrev's departure from the show saying that "Elena has been the heart of series" for a long time. She then revealed her excitement over the further development of Bonnie and Damon's relationship. And while she expressed her enthusiasm in learning more about Mama Salvatore, she mentioned about Caroline's fair share of trouble to deal in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 where Lily Salvatore's band of Heretics will take pleasure in torturing her, Melty has learned.
Meanwhile, Dobrev's series comeback is still uncertain but Kat Graham, who plays Bonnie, talked about her future in "The Vampire Diaries" Season 7. As per Christian Today, Graham stressed that her character has more stories to tell and has yet to be fully elaborated in the series.
"I think I was really excited about the idea of doing a season 7, based on the fact that I feel like my character, who was basically in the other dimension for about two years, finally got out, and I knew that the fans felt that the character's story wasn't completed," Graham told Hunger TV.
As for how the "The Vampire Diaries" series will end, actor Paul Wesley aka Stefan Salvatore, teased that the show can't go on forever since most of them are portraying the roles of teenage vampires.
"I think everything has to come to an end, man," he told People. "First of all I'm playing a 17-year-old. I'm 32 years old. So theoretically, if I were to stay on the show for say three more years, I would be a 35 year old playing a 17 year old, which is almost double. It's more than double. It's literally more than double!"
"The Vampire Diaries" Season 7 will premiere on Oct. 8 on The CW.
