"The View" has been having a pretty tough time this second quarter as the show's ratings reportedly went down by 16 percent compared to that in 2014. It also experienced a mass departure of its hosts.
"The View" definitely needs a fresh start. With Nicolle Wallace, Rosie Perez and Rosie O'Donnell gone, the show is planning to add new faces to the panel.
Candace Cameron Bruce, who stars in Netflix's reboot of "Full House," and former WMAQ-Ch.5 Sports Reporter Paula Faris, are currently having their final negotiations with ABC to co-host the daytime talk show, the Chicago Tribune reported.
If the deal closes, Bruce and Faris will join Whoopi Goldberg, Raven-Symoné and Michelle Collins at the Hot Topics table when the show returns for season 19.
Faris, who co-anchors GMA weekend, will work on the show Mondays through Thursdays, according to the Daily Mail. She is being eyed to fill in the Journalist spot by sharing the perspective of a news personality.
Meanwhile, Bruce, who's been outspoken about her values as a Christian, is being eyed to fill in the "conservative post" that was left by Elisabeth Hasselbeck, the Daily News has learned. It appeared that the producers were impressed when she defended a bakery in Oregon for refusing to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding.
ABC wants her to appear in the show, which is in New York, for some weeks. Then in other weeks, she will be flying to Los Angeles to film "Fuller House."
Another change that happened in "The View" was switching management to the news division as mandated by Ben Sherwood, president of Disney/ABC Television Group. The network is also considering adding a Friday edition, which will tackle Hot Topics in the news.
ABC also announced that Sarah De La O will be the show's new director. Sherwood hopes that adding these new faces can rescue the show from its second quarter downfall.
The new season of "The View" will premiere in the middle of September.
