"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" is reportedly going to be Johnny Depp's last pirate film. Meanwhile, rumor has it that while "Dead Men Tell No Tales" was still being filmed, the production was allegedly slowed down because of the actor, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow, and his wife, Amber Heard.
If proven to be true, Disney Studios will be having a huge problem, especially now that there are rumors of the sixth installment. If he exits, then who could be the possible frontrunner to take Sparrow's role in the alleged next pirate film?
Jim Carrey was reportedly one of the actors who Disney had to choose from before Depp was cast, Youth Health reported. There is a chance he could be asked to play the role if ever Depp leaves the franchise after the fifth installment.
"Downton Abbey" actor Dan Stevens and "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" star Robert Downey Jr., have also been rumored for the spot.
"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" was originally scheduled to be released in the summer of 2015. "Dead Men Tell No Tales" has been pushed back so many times and the production was nearly brought to a halt, according to Celebrity Laundry.
The same publication found out that an insider said that Depp had been on set as little as possible, and his mood had affected the whole production operations.
The production team reportedly blamed the couple and their drama for causing issues on the set. However, this wasn't confirmed and both Depp and Heard have not commented on the issue.
The release date was moved to July 7, 2017, as per the report of Fashion & Style.
"Pirates of the Caribbean 5" centers on Sparrow's quest to find an artifact that can grant its possessor a power to control over the seas so that he can fight his arch nemesis Captain Salazar, who escaped the Devil's Triangle and is now coming to kill him and all the pirates of the sea.
Depp will be joined by Kaya Scodelario as Carina and Javier Bardem as the ghost Captain Salazar.
