Caitlyn Jenner's show "I Am Cait," according to the early DVR data, has become cable TV's biggest unscripted launch of the year and the network's second most popular reality show premiere ever, Variety reported.
Neilsen "live plus-3" estimates revealed that the E! docuseries pilot episode last Sunday had an average of 1.78 rating in 18-49 and almost 3.892 million viewers overall, which is significantly higher than its "live-plus same-day" numbers reported earlier in the week. The show ranked No.11 among all broadcast and cable primetime series for the week in the 18-49 demo.
Variety has also learned that in the "live plus same-day" numbers, "I Am Cait" was the most watched E! series premiere since the show "Kourtney and Kim Take New York," which managed to rake in 3.01 million viewers in January 2011. Fortunately, it leapfrogged in the "live plus-3" figures.
The "I Am Cait" reality series about the former Kardashian step-dad and 1976 Olympian premiered Sunday internationally on local E! channels in almost 120 countries. And on Aug. 2, the series premiered in the UK, Deadline reported.
In related news, Caitlyn Jenner's friends are worried about her conservative views, saying that the 65-year old star should understand and learn more about the trans community.
According to E! News, Cait asked one of her girlfriends about the big issue plaguing the trans community. Chandi Moore responded, "They're homeless, unemployed, so it's just going to take a lot more."
One of her friends, Jen Richards, added, "I think if I was to focus on one area it would be entry level-jobs so that these girls have some alternative if they wanted."
"Don't a lot of times they can make more not working with social programs than they actually can with an entry level job, but you don't want people to get totally dependent on it. That's when they get in trouble. Why should I work?" Cait replied.
Her friend Jenny Boylan, an LGBT activist, said that she is worried on how Cait reacted to the issue because for Boylan, trans people need social programs for their living and it's nothing to be ashamed of.
Boylan noted that living in the bubble is an impediment to understanding other people before adding that Caitlyn Jenner should try to reach out and understand the trans community more now that she is a spokesperson for all of them.
