J.K. Rowling, author of the undeniably famous "Harry Potter" series, has yet another novel that is being anticipated to become the next Hollywood blockbuster film -—"Fantastic Beast And Where To Find Them."
"Harry Potter" fans, both kids and adults alike, are excited about the film adaptation of Rowling's book. Just a recap, here are the updates released so far.
For those who aren't familiar with the story, it is about Newt Scamander's adventure in New York's secret community of witches and wizards 70 years before Harry Potter read his book, "Fantastic Beast And Where To Find Them" in Hogwarts.
"Theory of Everything" actor Eddie Redmayne was cast to play Scamander, a Magizoologist and the author of the book "Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them." Rowling confirmed on Twitter that Scamander belonged to Hufflepuff and that the other heroes went to the American School of Wizardry.
Porpentina "Tina" Scamander, wife of Newt, is one of those American witches. She will be played by Katherine Waterston of "Steve Jobs." While her sister Queenie, will be played by the "Transparent" actress Alison Sudol.
The other character is Jacob, an American Muggle — witches' term for humans — who was in search for magical creatures. He ran into Scamander in New York during one of his journeys.
Rowling recently confirmed that "Kung Fu Panda" Dan Fogler will be playing the role. "Yes, Dan's going to 'be be' Jacob. He's not just going to BE Jacob. He's going to BE BE him," she tweeted.
She was also asked by one fan if there will be a character who will have a scar in "Fantastic Beasts." She responded that one of the characters has "loads" of scars.
Rowling specifically said that this book is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the "Harry Potter" series. As a matter of fact, it is an extension of the wizarding world.
In addition, the film's Facebook page shared a message on Dec. 30 that Rowling officially finished penning the script for the spin-off film.
Based on this Facebook post, it can be assumed that the filming started on Nov. 18, 2014 under Warner Bros. It's two years' worth of filmmaking is under the tutelage of David Yates.
The film is slated to be released on Nov. 18, 2016.
