‘Jeepers Creepers 3’ News 2015: No Hope For ‘Cathedral’ Sequel? Fans Disappointed As Production Updates Remain Elusive

"Jeepers Creepers 3" News 2015 — In July 2011, the online database movie information website IMDb ignited a major clamor among horror movie fans that the mythical cornfield creature is coming back in "Jeepers Creepers 3" and the movie had gone into production. Unfortunately, the news was remotely untrue.

After almost 5 years in silence, fans are still wondering if there's really no hope for the "Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral" sequel to happen soon. While Victor Salva didn't quite succeed in making the winged Creeper as an iconic villain, the first two films attracted a solid movie fanbase, Esquire noted.

While it remains unclear if full production is already underway, Salva has started the preparation by shooting a scene back in October 2013 for the sequel to his slasher franchise, which helped kill the repulsive "Scream" rip-offs during the late '90s, Bloody Disgusting reported.

In line with the unconfirmed "Jeepers Creepers 3" news, rumors have it that Jonathan Breck and Ray Wise are returning in the sequel. Its synopsis even states, "A successful mother teams up with witnesses to a murdering spree by a winged flesh-eating monster in hopes to end his disastrous killings once in for all."

The misinformation and the highly-publicized rumors have caused elation but then devastation came among horror fans when the reports were disproven especially IMDb's report that the "Jeepers Creepers" sequel is already into production. The Blood Shed revealed that franchise mastermind Victor Salva even denied the news.

"It has come close several times to going before the camera, and I hope someone sees the wisdom in shooting this," Salva said. "According to IMDB we already started shooting; I guess they started without us."

Silva was also reportedly asked about turning the "Jeepers Creepers 3" sequel as a 3D movie. However, he wasn't happy about it.

"3D would absolutely devastate the script - since the added 2 to 3 million in production costs would strip the screenplay down to a point where it would be smaller in scale than the original 'Jeepers Creepers,'" Salva said, as per Upcoming Horror Movies. "And then even that money dried up. I would say the film has been on and off the front burner at least nine times during the last few years."

In an interview, Salva also gave an update on the "Jeepers Creepers 3" project.

"Though I have been beating this drum for so long that people have started not to believe me, I am told they are very close to closing a financing deal for the third film in the trilogy," Salva stated. "So I want to say yes, but let's not jinx it by saying any more. My script for the film, which was written some time ago, has been ready to shoot for a while now."

Despite reports that "Jeepers Creepers 3: Cathedral" was in the pipeline ever since its predecessor left theaters in November 2003, fans are disappointed as production updates remain elusive. And the film's IMDb message board is as alive now as it was seven years ago.

"I'm a bit disappointed that this film is not following up the second one and this is likely because they took so long to flesh out the third and final part," one fan wrote. "I enjoyed both movies regardless of the panning the second one seems to get."

Meanwhile, if ever the "Jeepers Creepers 3" project will push through, do you think it will be a massive success story that will reboot the franchise?
