Publisher Konami Digital Entertainment has rescheduled the release of the PC version of "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" to match the debut of the game for the Xbox and PlayStation consoles.
Instead of Sept. 15, the upcoming game will now be released on Sept. 1 for all platforms, PC Gamer reported.
According to Tomotada Tashiro, president of the studio, the company will be able to release the game's PC edition due to the efficiency of the development team.
"We initially did not think it would be possible to get such an epic game out onto PC in time for launch alongside its console counterparts, but all involved have worked diligently to meet the demands of our PC consumers," the executive said in a press release.
"We feel confident that Steam users will be satisfied with the contents we will provide for the Steam version," Tashiro added.
However, the publisher also shared a bit of bad news regarding the game. According to the studio, the release of the game's multiplayer mode, dubbed as "Metal Gear Online," has been delayed. It will arrive for the consoles on Oct. 6 but won't be available for the game's PC version until January, Latinpost noted.
As described in Konami's website, "Metal Gear Online" features a squad-based type of multiplayer gameplay. It utilizes a class system that ranks the characters of players based on their skills and abilities.
Unfortunately, though, due to Konami's decision to release the PC version at an earlier date, it won't be able to debut the online mode on time. The company, however, didn't go into detail regarding the reasons behind its delay.
Gamers can already start pre-ordering "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain" through its official Steam page. Those who purchase it in advance will receive various freebies including a full copy of the game's prequel, "Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes."
In addition, the package includes a special collectors video showing behind-the-scenes footage of the game's development as well as a DLC containing a Venom Snake emblem and Mother Base staff 3, IGN has learned.
