The Duggar family, who was made famous by their reality show "19 Kids and Counting," is reportedly flat broke. Since their TLC show was canceled in mid-July due to Josh Duggar's molestation scandal, the family has allegedly pleaded for public donations.
The Duggar family is facing a major financial crisis. Following the cancellation of their TLC show, "19 Kids and Counting," the Duggars lost a great amount of income. Since the family received $45,000 per episode of their show, they will be losing $25 million in future earnings, with an estimated $245,000 to raise a child.
The Duggar family don't believe in allowing their daughters to work and their family's skillset is quite limited. As they grow desperate, the "19 Kids and Counting" family has issued four separate calls for public donations.
1. The first was when Jill Duggar and hubby Derick Dillard asked for donations from their tax-deductible organization Dillard Family Ministries, which funds their evangelical work in Central America, The Daily Beast noted. Currently, the Dillards are accepting donations online with suggested monthly donations ranging from $15 to $100.
2. Another instance cited was when newly-engaged Amy gave out an address on Instagram for fans who would like to send cards and etc. While others interpreted the post for financial call, Amy denied that she had any financial motivations.
"For us it's not really about the gifts or money, but we would like the chance to personally thank everyone!" she wrote.
The post came shortly after TLC reportedly confirmed the cancellation of her wedding special.
3. The social media world has also found a donate button on the Duggar children's YouTube channel, Duggar Studios. But after a widespread backlash on Twitter, the donate button was removed, UPROXX reported. However, it didn't stop the Duggar family's fundraising efforts. On their Twitter account and official Duggar Studios page, a $20 heather gray T-shirt was advertised. The contribution made in buying the said shirts will enable the Duggar Studios to produce more quality videos.
4. Several of the "19 Kids and Counting" stars still have lucrative speaking deals and the family appears to have not cut back on their expenditures, as per International Business Times. However, it is not an indication of good financial standing. In fact, when The Daily Beast reached to the Duggar family for comments, they automatically received a reply with a statement written below.
"If you are interested in purchasing a book you can click on the link at Duggarfamily.com for book sales," the family's official media request page wrote.
So, will the "19 Kids and Counting" stars' appeal for public donations save the Duggar family from impending bankruptcy?
