The iPad Mini is rumored to be headed for mass production. According to reports from MacOkatara, it will be created by Foxconn at their Brazil factory which already produces iPads and iPhones.
The report further says that the iPad Mini will begin production in September, just in time for the coming holiday season.
The site claims that reliable Chinese sources have stated that the CNC machine to produce the device's unibody casing has recently been invented in China.
The iPad Mini has been predicted to come with a 7.85 display. Those who have seen the device compare it to Google's Nexus 7 tablet, but the device is said to be a little wider. Although the Mini is expected to be slender, it is reported to have thickness comparable to the iPod Touch.
Predictions are that the iPad Mini will be supported by numerous carriers, however not all carriers that support the original iPad will do so for the iPad Mini initially.
Expectations are that the iPad Mini will sell at a much lower price than the iPad in order to beat out competition. Some of the iPad Mini's competitors include Android tablets such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 which costs $249 and the Amazon Kindle Fire which costs $200. According to Brief Mobile, the iPad Mini may be introduced at a price range starting at $249.
