Comcast Corporations, one of the leaders in media, entertainment and communications worldwide, announced today that it has been named one of the "40 Best Companies for Diversity" by Black Enterprise. The magazine highlighted Comcast and NBCUniversal's diverse employee base, their diversity program and the Company's diverse Board of Directors.
"Since Comcast's founding nearly 50 years ago, we have been committed to creating a culture of fairness, respect and inclusion," said Maria G. Arias, Executive Director of Diversity and Inclusion at Comcast Corporation, to MarketWatch.
Black Enterprise created a survery of the most successful 1,000 publicly-traded companies and 100 successful global companies, focusing on the inclusion of African American, Asian, Hispanic and various other minority groups. The key areas the survey addressed were supplier diversity, senior management, employees, and board of directors.
"It is an honor to be recognized by Black Enterprise as one of the best companies for diversity as Comcast and NBCUniversal strive to become a model of diversity for the communications and entertainment industries," said Arias. "We are proud of the additional steps we have taken, and will continue to build on our strong foundation to create an even more inclusive company."
This is the third time Comcast has made the Black Enterprise "40 Best Companies for Diversity" list since 2007. Additionally, Comcast and NBCUniversal's Diversity Councils were named one of the "2012 Top 25 Diversity Councils" by the Association of Diversity Councils. Furthermore, Comcast was also named one of Diversity Inc.'s "25 Noteworthy Companies." This is amongst various other recognitions the company has received for diversity throughout the years.
