"X-Men" fans rejoice! Soon enough, you'll not only see your favorite mutant characters on the big screen but also on your television screens after Fox confirmed that it is in talks with Marvel for a deal that could realize what every fan has been dreaming of — an "X-Men" live-action series.
According to IGN, "X-Men" fans are closer to finally seeing a live-action series of their favorite comic book-turned-'90s-cartoon series.
Fox co-chairman Dana Walden gave a very hopeful statement regarding the new project on Wednesday at the Television Critics Association press tour, saying: "[For] X-Men, we're in negotiations with Marvel. We're hopeful we'll be able to announce something soon. We're not closed on a deal yet but it's something we're definitely pursuing."
Of course, it is a known fact that there could be a possible conflict regarding the appearance of several characters on the show. But Walden maintained that they are doing their best to ensure that all characters, especially fan-favorites, would be part of the live-action series if ever it pushes through.
"The characters from the X-Men franchise are with Fox on the feature [films] side, so we won't be including Marvel charcters that are at ABC with Disney," Walden said.
He further stated that this project is going to be an exclusive franchise "as it has existed at Fox."
Comingsoon.net has learned that "24" producers Evan Katz and Manny Coto are going to develop the "X-Men" live-action series, along with Patrick McKay and JD Payne as screenwriters penning the pilot episode of the show.
The news about a possible "X-Men" live-action series comes ahead of the "X-Men: Apocalypse" release on May 27, 2016.
It is not clear whether the stars of the rebooted movie franchise, such as Jennifer Lawrence, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult and Michael Fassbender, are going to be part of the small screen adaptation.
Meanwhile, it seems that the realization of an "X-Men" live-action series was already teased back in 2014, when "X-Men" franchise producer and writer Simon Kinberg said that the success of "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Daredevil" on Netflix isn't surprising because comic books tend to get better adaptations through serialized shows. He also said at the time that this could be enough reason for them to bring "X-Men" to the small screen, according to Screen Rant.
