"Jurassic World 2" co-writer Colin Trevorrow and creator Steven Spielberg will take the dinosaur film to a whole new level, bringing fans along a surprising journey.
Prepare yourselves (spoilers!) because the movie will showcase more hybrid dinosaurs and will not be contained in theme parks anymore.
Trevorrow told Wired UK that "Jurassic World 2" may shift outside Isla Nublar. "[It will not be] just a bunch of dinosaurs chasing people on an island. That'll get old real fast. I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks, and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment."
He also explained that one of the plots that the production will address in "Jurassic World 2" will be the utilization of dinosaurs as weapons and "the fact that animals have been used in war for centuries." It is thereby clear that B D Wong's Dr. Henry Wu will be showcasing his ingeniousness in creating crossbreed dinosaurs, as per International Business Times.
However, he may not be the only one to do so. Trevorrow, 38, teased Slash Films that, "There are people with completely bonkers ideas that are always gonna step in and wonder how else we can utilise a new technology."
"And this isn't something necessarily that was in the book but is a seed that I wanted to plant in this movie, that might be able to grow in more of these movies if they decide to make more of them. What if this went open source? What if there are 15 different entities around the world who can make a dinosaur?"
If you have watched "Jurassic World," then this line will ring a bell, "We're not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur," which was a warning from Dr. Wu.
Meanwhile, VineReport revealed that Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will reprise their roles as Owen Grady and Claire, respectively. Producer Frank Marshall alongside Steven Spielberg will be producing "Jurassic World 2" while Derek Connelly will co-write the script.
Speculations regarding the change in the franchise's name from "Park" to "World" may be tackled in the sequel since rumors were circulating of an exploration of having dinosaurs and human hybrids.
As for the idea of "weaponizing dinosaurs," Eugene Daily News commented that the thought of dinosaurs training for war sounds preposterous. Yes, a sequel was undeniable but, hopefully, the focus of the film would be less on the destruction and chaos and more on the dinosaurs' effects in the new world and how humans adjust to their presence.
"Jurassic World 2" will premiere on June 22, 2018.
