‘Flash’ Movie 2018 Casting Updates: If Not Ezra Miller, Who Could Play Scarlet-Running Hero? Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman Or Liana Liberato To Play Iris West?

Although Warner Bros. has already decided that Ezra Miller will play the titular character in the upcoming "The Flash" live-action movie, movie fans are still clamoring for their celebrity idols to take on the lead in the film.

The "Perks of Being a Wallflower" star's involvement in the DC project was announced during the recent San Diego Comic-Con. When asked about the upcoming film, Miller said he's excited to play Barry Allen on the big screen because of the character's origin, according to Cinemablend.

"He follows a lot of really interesting discoveries in physics," he told MTV. "Where he comes from is [that] we figured out that Event Horizon was there, and he was the character who was created through our mythos machine of comic books to break that Event Horizon, so you could explore — in fantasy — [and] I think that's an interesting idea."

Although it may seem that Miller is closely connected to the roots of Allen or the Flash, fans think other actors will also do well for the movie. Some of those suggested by fans through the film's IMDB page include Chris Pine, Luke Mitchell, Garret Hedlund, David Gallagher and Anthony Mackie.

Warner Bros. can give these actors a shot for the role but the problem with Pine and Mackie is that they already have their own superhero projects. Pine is set to star alongside Gal Gadot in "Wonder Woman" as her love interest Steve Trevor while Mackie is already known as Marvel's Falcon, who made his first appearance in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier."

But for Stephen Amell, the star of the television series "Arrow," no other actor can play the role of Flash except for Grant Gustin. Amell believes that Gustin, who currently plays Allen in the "Flash" television series, deserves a shot to bring his character to the big screen.

"I feel like it should be Grant doing the movie," he told Wall Street Journal in October.

As for Miller's potential leading lady in the upcoming DC film, fans think Jennifer Lawrence, Natalie Portman or Liana Liberato should be the top picks to play Iris West, Allen's love interest.

Lawrence and Liberato would probably do well in the film due to their growing popularity. The same can be said for Portman but like Pine and Mackie, the actress is also heavily associated with another franchise. Marvel fans have known her as Jane Foster of the "Thor" film series.
