HBO's "Game of Thrones" knows how to tease its fandom. The latest update for Season 6 was the return of the original Lord of Winterfell to Westeros! What? How can that happen when his head was chopped off on the portico of the Great Sept courtesy of the scheming Cersei Lannister?
Calm down folks. Yes, Lord Eddard Stark will indeed come back to Westeros but not Sean Bean's Ned Stark. Instead, he is to come back as a young lad reportedly to be portrayed by 13-year-old Sebastian Croft.
Daily Mail reported that Croft will play Ned Stark in his childhood days in flashback scenes. According to Watchers on the Wall, the budding British actor met the required brown hair, sharp features and Northern accent requirements that were imperative for the role. Apparently, Croft will appear with a young Robert Baratheon in a flashback at the Eyrie where they were raised under the tutelage of Jon Arryn, who became the King's Hand when Robert became Lord of the Seven Kingdoms.
Although no confirmation has come from the production about Sebastian Croft's casting or the storyline, fans who have followed the TV show for the past five seasons have already made their own theories about what Ned Stark's childhood will expose.
This latest casting news sparked rumors that Ned Stark's return to childhood would lead to the discovery of fan favorite Jon Snow's true lineage.
As for Huffington Post, a list of possibilities for "Game of Thrones" Season 6 could be a flashback were young Ned Stark playing with his sister Lyanna Stark to whom Robert Baratheon was engaged, or of him sparring with his older brother Brandon or a young Robert Baratheon.
Well, anything is possible especially that Bran and his seeing power will be back in "Game of Thrones" Season 6.
Another shocking return will be that of Walder Frey, who was last seen in Season 3, where he authored the much talked about double cross at the Red Wedding, which led to the demise of mother and son Catelyn Stark and Robb Stark, as per Independent.
David Bradley, who plays Frey, told Zap2it.com, "He will be coming back, but I can't say when. I can't really say because things are in a delicate situation."
The actor added, "I do look forward to it, because I do love playing someone so irredeemable."
"Game of Thrones" Season 6 will keep fans on its toes as they wait for further updates about the hit HBO show that will premiere in the spring of 2016.
