Mary-Kate Olsen and sister Ashley Olsen are recently involved in a class action lawsuit filed by 40 current and previous interns, but the alleged husband of the NYU drop out, Olivier Sarzoky, has remained mum amid the issue.
With the buzz surrounding the actresses turned businesswomen's fashion empire, the French banker and his wife, maintained their silence with only a company representative addressing the lawsuit.
Their silence does not come as a surprise since the couple is notorious for keeping things very private, just like their engagement and their alleged wedding.
The 29-year-old former child star and the 46-year-old half-brother of former French President Nicolas Sarzoky tied the knot secretly in a quiet ceremony with just a few family members, Mirror reported.
Meanwhile, the suit filed against the Olsen twins claimed that their company, Dualstar Entertainment Group — the parent company of their fashion labels, The Row and Elizabeth and James — refused to pay interns for hours spent on "tedious tasks," according to Food World News.
"You're like an employee, except you're not getting paid. They're kind of mean to you. Other interns have cried. I'd see a lot of kids crying doing coffee runs, photocopying stuff," lead plaintiff Shahista Lalani, who was a former design intern under the head technical designer of The Row about half a year in 2012, said.
The lawsuit reportedly contends that the interns be paid minimum wage because they were performing similar jobs as their paid colleagues, without receiving any academic or vocational credit.
During a magazine interview back in 2013, Mary-Kate Olsen said she and her sister Ashley are quite involved in their fashion business, Daily Mail has learned.
"We still get the question," the blonde designer told Allure '"How involved are you?' It's not like you wake up one day and have a huge company with four or five different companies within the companies."
In response to the inter lawsuit, Dualstar Representative Annett Wolf wrote in a statement to USA TODAY saying, "As an initial matter, Dualstar is an organization that is committed to treating all individuals fairly and in accordance with all applicable laws. The allegations in the complaint filed against Dualstar are groundless, and Dualstar will vigorously defend itself against plaintiff's claims in court, not before the media. Dualstar is confident that once the true facts of this case are revealed, the lawsuit will be dismissed in its entirety."
