"Scandal" season 5 will be picking up from where it left off, according to the show's creator, Shonda Rhimes, Latin Post has learned. Following the announcement, she gave a few hints on what's in store for Olivia Pope, President Fitz Grant, Mellie Grant, Quinn Perkins and Huck amid the chaotic situation.
It seems that the events are becoming grubby for everybody, except for Pope and the President. Fans can remember that Season 4 ended with Olivia, played by Kerry Washington, and President Fitz, played by Tony Goldwyn, doing some not-so-discreet kissing on the Truman balcony of the White House.
What can Rhimes say about it?
"The world had been fairly blown apart for everybody except Olivia and Fitz," she said during Television Critics Association's semi-annual press tour, HNGN noted.
She said that it was exciting to explore two things — one, the possibility of really seeing what happens next, and two, doing the thing she thinks everyone expects.
What about the fate of Fitz and Mellie's relationship in "Scandal" season 5?
She confirmed Mellie will no longer live at the White House. Although, she did not clearly state the fate of their relationship, but according to the Movie News Guide, there were reports that Fitz may consider leaving Mellie for good in "Scandal" season 5.
Meanwhile, Katie Lowes, who plays Quinn, said that the character would be having huge conflicting emotions towards Huck, as per Vine Report.
"It's really a conflicting emotion of do you kill your best friend/ mentor/ sexual lover/ all the different various relationships we've been to each other and the man you lick every once in a while for kicks," she said in an interview with TV Fanatic.
Additionally, Lowes also expressed that the writers of the show had been surprising her with new ideas and stories. She described that being in "Scandal" for five seasons was mind blowing.
"You come and you think to yourself 'Come on, they can't possibly have more material. They can't possibly keep these stakes up.' But I promise you they do! It's insane!" she added.
"Scandal" season 5 will premiere on Sept. 24 on ABC.
