Andrew Garfield can now sit back and relax because a new guy has grabbed the Spider-Man suit he has donned for "The Amazing Spider-Man" in 2012 and "The Amazing Spider-Man 2" in 2014 — both from Sony.
Most people thought that Andrew Garfield would be sour-graping because his superhero role went to someone else, but, in actuality, he's sort of happy that Tom Holland gets to suit up for Marvel's "Spider-Man" reboot, MTV News reported.
As per Entertainment Tonight, the former web slinger explained, "It feels lovely, especially because Tom Holland is a really, really great actor."
"He was in this movie 'The Impossible' and he was just this incredibly powerful, sensitive, just wonderful young actor."
The "99 Homes" star also lauded Holland's dancer body, because it meant he is in suitable form for the character.
Holland, being a perfect match for the Peter Parker role, was only one of the reason why Andrew Garfield was more than pleased with all that went down for the character. He's also ecstatic that he won't have to bear the responsibility of being "Spider-Man" anymore. Remember the lines "with great power comes great responsibility?"
"I'm just really excited to just be a fan again as opposed to bearing the weight of it," said Garfield.
E! News caught up with the 31-year-old actor and he remarked on the termination of his stint as Spider-Man.
He said, "It's a mixed bag and it's a blessing. I got to do it twice. I got to meet incredible artists. I got to have a wild experience and now I get to let it go, which is actually a really lovely thing."
"I'm very kind of at peace with it."
He's thrilled to see the 19-year-old British actor wear the iconic costume. Garfield gushed, "He's just a brilliant actor. I can't wait to watch. I just can't wait to be a fan again and just watch and enjoy myself watching."
The actor was not the only one excited about Holland taking on the role. Director Jon Watts, who will direct the new "Spider-Man" solo movie which will debut after "Captain America: Civil War," stated, "He can be a real high school student. That's why people love Spider-Man. He's the most grounded, relatable of superheroes. And Tom can really do that. He captures that. And he can do a standing back-flip. He's perfect," as per Entertainment Weekly.
So who is the new guy taking on the beloved superhero's role?
Tom Holland is a dancer who made his debut in West End's "Billy Elliot the Musical" as Billy's best friend Michael. Later on he got the chance to perform the lead role of Billy on Sept. 8, 2008 and got rave reviews which applauded his dancing skills and versatile acting.
Within two months after he left "Billy Elliot the Musical" in 2010, Holland was able to grab a starring role in "The Impossible" in 2012 alongside Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts. The film was directed by Juan Antonio Bayona, as per IMDb.
Tom Holland will grace the big screen wearing Spider-Man's suit in Marvel's "Captain America: Civil War" in 2016 and a new "Spider-Man" reboot in 2017.
