Singers Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Mary J. Blige are among the names that are being tossed around for potential judges for the hit show "American Idol."
Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez announced that they will not be judges next season and thus the search for the best possible candidates began.
Steven Tyler announced his exit Thursday evening and earlier on Thurday, Lopez said in a "Today" show interview that she is wrestling with the decision to stay or go.
During her radio chat with Ryan Seacrest, who also is the host of "American Idol," she said, "It's just been a really long, tough process," Lopez said. "Ryan, you know more than anybody, I've been telling the truth. I really have been torn. When I signed on to 'Idol,' I signed on to do one year. I ended up doing two years because I just fell so in love with the show. You know that. I never felt so much part of a family of something working on it as I did with 'Idol.' I didn't know I'd be so moved emotionally. It was just such a lovely surprise in my life to do it. But even last year, when I had to make the decision [to come back for a second season], it was super tough to decide. I have my movies and my music and my this and my that. It all kind of worked together for a while. But it gets complicated."
With such a heavy work load, Lopez made her decision to leave and so now, rumors that Mariah Carey will be the new judge have surfaced. Headlines stating that Adam Lambert or Miley Cyrus would be selected as new judges were also rumored before.
According to Today Online, Lambert addressed the possibility in an interview in London, where he appeared in concert with Queen.
"Well, nothing's been confirmed yet. If I were to be asked, I'd love the job. I think that would be great. That's 'if,' because nothing's been asked yet,'' Lambert said, adding that he'd enjoy being a panelist who could ''help other artists reach their dreams.''
Nothing has been confirmed as of yet, but fans of the show are in anticipation of the decision of who will fill two empty chairs at the judges table.
