"Star Wars" fans will surely be thrilled that ahead of the premiere of "Star Wars: Episode 7" in December. At the D23 Expo 2015, it was announced that the famous park Star Wars Land will get two new expansions that are said the biggest ever, given that each will cover 14 acres.
The Star Wars Land expansions are not going to be in the same area: one is going to be built in Orlando's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World Resort and another will be constructed in the Anaheim, CA Disneyland park, as per SlashFilm.
Despite the additional areas to enjoy, fans will be thrilled to know that the expansions will offer something new since they are set in a different "Star Wars" planet.
Disney chairman Bob Iger announced Saturday morning: "I am thrilled to announce the next chapter in the long and exciting history between Disney Parks and Star Wars. Through each new attraction and new land we create, we push the boundaries of what is possible."
Following the announcement of the expansions, the approximately 8,000 attendees of the gathering gave Igor a standing ovation.
Igor promised that fans who will be visiting the parks will be transported to the new galaxy that Disneyland and Walt Disney World will be working on the the following months.
The timeline for the construction of the "Star Wars" expansions has yet to be revealed, so in the meantime, guests will be treated to the updates of the "Star Wars" parks' pre-existing rides, such as the indoor roller coaster Space Mountain which is going to be transformed into the Hyperspace Mountain, according to USA Today.
Meanwhile, apart from the juicy announcements about the parks, Disney also revealed to rabid fans of the franchise the official poster of "Star Wars 7: The Force Awakens," which was made by famous artist Drew Struzan.
However, the poster is not going to be part of the promotional material for the highly anticipated flick. Instead it's only intended to promote the movie to the attendees of the D23 Expo, as per The Verge.
