Sony unveils Walkman F800 with Android 4.0 ICS and 3.5-inch screen

To expand its basket of offerings, Korean consumer electronics manufacturer Sony has unveiled a new lineup of music players and other audio accessories including the F800 series Walkman music player, which will hit the retail stores running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, featuring a 3.5 inch multi-touch display.

According to the company's press release, the Android operating system and Internet connectivity via Wi-Fi will allow the user to download apps of all sorts.

Further Sony will ship the device with preinstalled apps from e-mail to maps and media offerings. The Sony Walkman F800 will also feature Bluetooth, S-Master MX Digital Amplifier technology and an integrated xLoud speaker system. Moreover, the device will come with a pair of Sony's MDR-EX0300E in ear headphones.

On the storage front, Sony Walkman F800 will be available with a choice of either 8GB, 16GB or 32GB of built in storage, however, the company has not released any details on pricing and also there are no details on when the new F800 Walkman will be available.

Certainly, Walkman F800 is the most interesting of all the new products Sony has unveiled. Other music players include the new Walkman S770BT, sporting Bluetooth streaming capability. Sony has also unveiled the E570 series, the E470 series, and an E473K speaker dock. Meanwhile, pricing of all these new devices is still unknown.
